Surprisingly I get asked this a lot…No. I do not have AIDS or HIV. Just because I am a homosexual does not mean I have HIV either. To answer another question:No, just because someone is HIV+ does not mean I will not date them. Not only is my current boyfriend HIV+ but I have dated HIV+ guys in the past.Does that mean I will get HIV?Not necessarily.Dating an HIV+ person usually means that the person is aware that they are HIV+ and getting medical treatment to reduce the virus to the ‘undetectable’ level. While this does not make it impossible to transfer the virus it does lower your chances TONS (condoms also help prevent transmission)The biggest issue with HIV transferring is for people who THINK they are without it and have gotten no medical treatment. This is most common for people who have never been tested. Testing is very often free at clinics and very simple. My suggestion to all homosexual AND heterosexual people is to get tested regularly and to use protection. (HIV is not just for the gays bro)Also know that HIV is no longer a death sentence as it was just a few years ago. It is very treatable as long as it is caught and people who are HIV+ very frequently live normal and healthy lives.  If you need more information on HIV feel free to contact your local health practitioner. ((This is a repost made rebloggable by request))
